The St. Croix County District Attorney represents the State of Wisconsin and the people of St. Croix County. Eric Johnson has served as St. Croix County's District Attorney since 1989.

Under District Attorney Eric Johnson's direction, the St. Croix County District Attorney's office has been a leader in victim advocacy and child abuse prosecutions.  The St. Croix County District Attorney's office has also received statewide recognition for its Child Fatality Review Team, Stop Drug and Alcohol Abuse Poster Contest and prosecution of drug cases targeting methamphetamine.
The duties of the District Attorney include the prosecution of all criminal cases brought by various state agencies, such as the Department of Justice, Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations, Department of Agriculture, or the Department of Health and Social Services. The District Attorney is also responsible for the prosecution of county and state traffic violations, as well as St. Croix County ordinance violations, children in need of protective services cases and termination of parental rights cases, and represents the interests of the public in matters brought under the Juvenile Code, including attending juvenile proceedings in Juvenile Court.

The mission of the St. Croix County District Attorney's Office is to vigorously and effectively represent the people of the State of Wisconsin and St. Croix County through aggressive and fair prosecution, ensuring impartial and balanced justice that holds people accountable for their actions, and to search for the truth.

Our office not only strives to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere in which employees are treated fairly and encouraged to excel, but we also strive to treat every citizen coming to this office with respect.

Among the primary goals of this office are to protect the health and welfare of children who are victims of child abuse and neglect and strongly address the problems of drug abuse county-wide.  At all times we apply common sense and experience as we work within the justice system and, in this way, make St. Croix County a safer community for everyone who lives here.
