Wisconsin has a
new commercial pool code that goes into effect Feb. 1, 2008. There are
significant changes. To learn about the changes,
here is a pool class that was taught by Laurie
Diaby-Gassama. In addition to the code changes this course also
discusses "main drain" safety.
Licensing and
Inspections introduced its very own Potluck Food Safety Course. The
course is designed for any community organizations that sponsor
potlucks. The course agenda includes food safety and event planning.
It is an opportunity to get organization members of “on the same page”
of food safety. It provides practical ways to reduce the risk of foodborne illness. The course is available to be taught to groups or
individuals can take the course here on Licensing and Inspection’s
website.

What's New
Process
Approach to HACCP
FDA and USDA has just approved using the
“Process Approach to HACCP” as an alternative to the traditional HACCP.
Process Approach HACCP divides each all the recipes of the kitchen into 3
categories based on complexity. Then each category has a HACCP plan instead
of each recipe which traditional HACCP would require.

St Croix
County's Smoke Free Dining Guide
Unless there is a stricter local ordinance,
current state law requires restaurants to be smoke free if they have a
seating capacity of more than 50. BUT this state law does allow such
restaurants to designate a smoking section as long as it accommodates the
non-smokers.
Public Health would like to applaud the restaurants of
Saint Croix County that go above and beyond the current smoking requirements
and recognize them in this guide.
