St. Croix County DHHS Public Health Department: Public Health works to prevent, promote, and protect the health of people in St. Croix County.

 

 

Wisconsin:  Core Public Health Functions and Essential Public Health Services. The essential public health services connect directly with Wisconsin’s statutorily mandated core public health functions: assessment, policy development, and assurance. Conducting research, one of the 12 essential services, supports and influences all the others.

  Communicable Disease Control: Immunization program weekly clinics; disease investigation and follow-up of reportable diseases
 

 

Environmental Health: Exists to promote a healthier environment. Investigation of environmental health problems and complaints, with referrals to proper authorities; childhood lead poisoning prevention screening and education; radon; well water testing resources; rabies control program; well abandonment; beach health

   
 

 

St. Croix County Licensing and Inspections: St. Croix County is an agent for the State of Wisconsin's Department of Health and Family Services and therefore licenses and inspects all restaurants, lodging facilities, swimming pools, campgrounds, recreational educational camps, and tattoo/body piercing establishments within the county. Temporary events held within the county which serve food and/or provide campsites may require a Temporary Event License.

  Preparedness
Public Health Preparedness: planning and putting into place programs, protocols and partnerships to respond quickly and effectively to threats endangering the health of the public.
       
 

 

Prevention Chronic Disease Control Blood pressure screenings and monitoring; diabetes screenings; cardiovascular risk reduction assessments, education and counseling; Tobacco Prevention and Control

       
 

  Reproductive Health: Confidential, low cost reproductive health services including: Birth control information and supplies; sexually transmitted disease (STD) exams, testing and treatment; pregnancy testing, counseling and referrals; confidential HIV testing and counseling; pelvic exams, pap tests; emergency contraception; breast and cervical cancer screening for women up to 64 years of age. School/Day Care: Provide services that assist children to achieve their highest level of health for optimal learning. Educational consultation and screening services available to schools and daycares

  Women, Infants and Children (WIC): The goal of the WIC program is to help pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and younger children achieve better health and nutrition.
