Will the seasonal
flu shot protect me against the novel H1N1 Influenza
Virus?
- Not likely, but the
seasonal flu shot can help
protect yourself and those around you from seasonal flu.
Typically, seasonal flu is just one shot.
- Some of the
groups recommended
will need to get a second booster shot of H1N1
vaccine four weeks later.
- Get a pneumonia shot to
prevent secondary infection if you are over the age
of 65 or have a chronic illness such as diabetes or
asthma. For specific guidelines, talk to your health
care provider
- Make sure that your
family's immunizations are up-to-date.

H1N1 Influenza Vaccinations
The H1N1
vaccine is now open to anyone that would like to receive
the vaccine! The CDC continues to especially recommend
that the following groups are vaccinated:

Pregnant women
-
Persons who live with or provide care for
children aged less than 6 months (e.g.
parents, siblings and daycare providers)

All health care and emergency medical
services personnel

Children aged 6 months through 24 years, and
-
Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have
medical conditions that put them at higher
risk for influenza-related complications
H1N1 Vaccine will be available at participating local
providers as well as St. Croix County DHHS-Public
Health. The vaccine is free. Note: The federal
government allows clinics to charge up to $15.00 for an
administration fee. Public Health has chosen to not
charge for administration.

H1N1 vaccinations are available at the
Monday walk-in clinics from 12-4pm, except
the second Monday of each month from 12-5pm.
